Purchased my first stingray the other day. A fat lil retic about 4 1/2in. Also picked up a 7in fire eel (almost like him as much as the ray). The pet store owner kept trying to tell me to just feed it blackworms but I knew even tho he was gorging off them exclusively, he needed variety. Read forums so bought some mussels, shrimp, nightcrawlers also. Ray likes all of it except for shrimp, fire eel loves the earthworms. I was putting the worms in a cap and putting them in a submerged container in the tank. It was too much of a hassle getting wet before goin to work, so I got a turkey baster and a 2 ½ foot tube 3/8in wide and just drop the tube down to the container and squirt in the food. I stay dry and the fish are happy. I also feed the fish first so they dont eat the food though my clown loaches prefer the rays food. The ray instantly goes to the tray so they usually eat what he blows out his tray. I got a beautiful combination in a 125 (was advised against it) but hope it continues to work out.
Realizing how much messier my clean tank will get I picked up another Rena Xp3 canister filter. Only paid $76 for it at petsmart. If you go online they price match at $104 but www.bigalsonline.com sells it for $89. You can also find 15% off coupons for Petsmart so you end up getting it $100 cheaper than what it originally cost. Anywayz, Ill share my experiences as they come. I know its too early to claim success.
