I have a new Tigrinus and a Silver Arowana living together, with only a discus as a tank mate right now. I have only had them together for one day but I have a few questions about feedings. First off, they were both raised on feeders, I don't mind feeding live but I don't want it to be their staple diet, however, whenever I try floating sticks, krill, or cichlid gold with my aro, he won't touch them. He rarely goes to the top which I find very strange for an aro. However, he will chase a feeder to the bottom of the tank to eat it. How can I get my aro to accept floating foods/feel more comfortable at the top? Also, I know that it is very difficult to get a Tig off feeders, so I don't mind starting him on them for the first few weeks, however, my aro will eat every feeder before the tig even has a chance! Any of you aro/tig owners had (have) this problem? How did you fix it, any suggestions?

First of all stop putting feeders in the tank altogether. Start them on dead food like cut up market shrimp, krill, mysis and so forth. Once you can get them to take dead, the next step is pellets. Just be patient and don't give up. GL

**EDIT**
My Tig still won't take pellets by themself. I slice large market prawns in half, stuff NLS 3mm sinking pellets into the shrimp meat and he downs the pellets with the shrimp unknowingly. hahaha I WIN!! :naughty:

good call^^ , if they don't eat the dead food, then starve them for about a week then try again. get close to the the tank so that the fish can see you. (since it's the trig is still new.)

I will try the starvation technique. I just feel like I'm being a bad father lol. I have tried krill but it doesn't sink and the tig won't move from his spot at the bottom, should I be worried?

I have read that Arowana's are very sensitive to "droop eye" which means that they look at the bottom which shouldnt be. How are his eyes?

yeah I know about droop eye. it is usually due to too much protein in their diet, but his eyes are fine and I made sure of that when I bought him.

if its a silver aro you have chances are it will get drop eye no matter what you do

try to get the aro eating meal worms or crickets

the tig is another story they are not that good at detecting dead food at 1st you may want to try dumping frozen prawn on its head are with tongs

it can take months not weeks to get a tig feeding right

i know everyone seams to want to get their aro eatting pellets

my tig also eats pellets the hikari sinking carvivor type

hikari are expencive but they are the best pellets to get any fish feeding then they will take other pellets once they start on the hikari
