well today on my day off I got a few diy projects started. I built a 55 gallon stand for my friend. I made him the deal if he pays for the materials for his stand and buys my wood materials for my double rack stand and my would plywood tanks then its a done deal and he said ok. So here are some pictures from what I did today. I got his stand completely done expect for polying the trim and I still need to cut out the plywood for glass to go into and add some supports across the top so the tank will not bow. let me know what you think. I will be using drylok to seal the tank also.

Nice job!

yup i am going to put a divider in both of the plywood tanks. the bottom that will have albino short fin plecos on one side and albino long fins on the other. im not sure what im going to put up top yet. I think it might be a breeder tank

well the past couple days I got all 3 coats of poly on the stand for my buddy and I got my second coat of drylok on my tanks. i also put the support divider in for the egg crate also. I will try to post some pics tomorrow night

I thought I read in other threads Drylok wasn't very good for waterproofing? I know it is great for painting the stands and canopys and other things in hi Humidity areas. I'm not doubting you at all just expressing concern on a subject I have only read about.

Very nice the more i look at these diys the more i want to build all kinds of tanks but then the wife would be mad for spending all my time in the shop

I have built 2 other drylok tanks and i never had a problem with them wet. they are about 4 months old or so. my buddy has a big 260 tank out of drylok thats over a year old and he has no problems. he also have a whole bunch of drylok breeder tanks and no problems. he got the drylok idea from a guy who has had them for over 10 years and never had a problem. One thing that you need to know when working with drylok is put lots of coats of it on the tank and make sure you let it dry 5 or more days before you add the glass to it so every cures right.
