1) In your experience, how long can a 3" FH comfortably live in a 55g tank?

Yesterday I went to buy a 70g tank from a guy on Craigslist. It turned out to be a 55g. I offered the guy $40 and brought it home anyway.

2) Are FH's jumpers? The tank does not have a top, yet. I'm gonna get some glass from Lowe's and make one.

3) I'd like to put some low light live plants in his tank. Do you think he will destroy them?

4) One more dumb question... How do you pronounce KOK? Is it how I think it is? LOL

1. You can grow it to full size in that tank assuming you do correct water changes but a full grown flowerhorn in that size tank isn't comfortable. I would think about 8" you should get it a bigger tank.
2. Yes they are jumpers, they will need a lid.
3. They like to arrange the tank to they see fit, it only gets worse as they get older. Never kept real plants with mine so not entirely sure.

All fish are capable of jumping, but Flowerhorns usually never jump, unless its for food. Just create a makeshift cover just to be safe.

Don't even bother lol, Flowerhorns will destroy those in a heartbeat.

LOL Its pronounced "coke" with a bit of an Asian accent on it. I don't say it that way with my buds, I just say cock. LOL

Awesome. Thank you!

This is our first FH and he is NUTS! All day long, he is constantly swimming up, down, side to side. Attempts to attack my finger through the glass and follows the cat when he sits by the tank. He was sold to us as a red dragon x red dragon offspring. When my son brought him home, there was no sign of a KOK. Within a couple days there was a very noticeable hump and it continues to grow. We moved him to the new tank last night and within 10 minutes he was back to himself and even ate. I'm feeding him strictly NLS .2mm and I can already see great improvement in his color.

I now see why FH enthusiasts love them so much and have a hard time only keeping one. It reminds me of when I got my first red tail boa... Now I own about 200 boas and balls. LOL

my flowerhorn greets me at the top of the tank whenever I go to the tank. I see someone said they cant keep plants and that is very true. Mine digs everything up
