Ok I picked up my eel he or she is now in Q tank. which is fresh water Id he or she is about 10 ins. I bought salt and a meter . Whats the best temp to keep the tank and how much salinity do I mix I figure I have to go slowly to get it to brackish I dont want to shock it. Ive read like 200 post so far but cant find the answers. Iam so excited and want to make sure it has a happy home. Oh its a freshwater Moray Thanks so much

There really is no such creature. Your eel is often sold as a "Freshwater" moray, but it's really a saltwater creature.

Sorry I know that thats why I asked about adding salt slowly as hes been in fresh water at the lfs. If you read all my post you would have relized that. But thanks for trying to help. I quess I should have said the lfs said it was freshwater.I did do research before I bought it . I just cant find answers to the question on salt

Another peice of advise.. if you can get it to take frozen food, or freeze dried krill ect the better off it will be. the occasional live feeder is Ok. ( look up proper QTing of feeders if your truly interested to understand the pros/cons and dangers.) Krill is usually a great starter for getting eels to eat ime. Try to avoid feeding beefheart. I personally feed formula 1/silversides/squid/krill to my eels at work and they do very well on this.
