A van, down by the river.
Had a few pinks out of a normal con spawn a while back, and went ahead with growing them out.

55g planted, XP3 and fountain pump.

Tank is in desperate need of a glass cleaning, apologies on that note. And before anyone asks... Yes, the wall is bright orange. :D

They won't sit still for pictures... If they see me stand up across the room they swarm the surface begging. The female just spawned, so her colors are already a bit faded.

Currently only 2 pairs, but I'd picked out some of the more interesting body types. Before breeding, the largest male's nuchial hump is quite a bit larger.

Something most cichlid owners will appreciate... There's 3 clay pots, a grove of corkscrew val, and a pond pump where the other pair spawn, but these two feel most secure in a glass alfredo sauce mason jar. :screwy:

Here's one of the oddballs. Reminds me of a ~5" shortbody fh knockoff. lol
The larger male has a hump the same size in between spawns.

Unofficial boss of the tank. Probably 5 years old by now, takes absolutely no .... :headbang2 Honestly think he keeps the log clear for the sheer joy of pissing off the other fish. He'll occasionally go after the cons, circling and head butting until they back down. Won't hide, and he finger chases. :screwy:

One of those plecos that spends the daytime plastering their junk to the front of the tank because they can. :grinno:

Anyhow. Thought I'd share. ^_^

Good job raising all of them, they look super healthy and that female has really nice trailers.

:D I've been selectively picking them out over a good couple generations . Surprisingly, these are the remnants from 4 petsmart cons 3-4 years ago. Same line, they just randomly went pink once the right two paired off. So far it's mainly the males showing major shape differences in spawns. Females have pretty much retained their shape but grow very slowly with mature fish in the tank. I lost a standard shortbody con with a spine notch to aggression a while back. Was a really cool little fighter.

The trailers are in awesome shape considering I've got 2 pairs that choose to have fry clouds side by side. They're so tied up worrying about each other they ignore the other 2/3 of the tank.

These are some of the nicest looking white cons. Beautiful!

Thanks. :D I was getting close to changing stock until the first 3 pinks showed up in a 80+ spawn. Screwed at that point, the missus claimed the tank and its current occupants for her own. :grinno:

These guys primarily eat micro marine pellets. Works out nicely. The big guys can gulp them down, while the little ones can still sneak in for 1-2 at a very small size when they scatter. They also steal every last bit of the jd's food possible when they can. (minced clams/beef heart, tiny cooked shrimp - oddly, the jd's won't touch raw..., worms from the garden, and occasional pleco veggies. They're definitely not lacking in choice or underfed...

At some point I'll get to work and clean some glass so I can try and get better pics. Shifting a 10g planted to a 29g first.

Fantastic looking Cons you got there.
