I have a standard lighting fixture that you get with any old tank. So i do not favor the idea of spending 300-500$ on a T-5 fixture and bulbs when i can get an equally or more powerful bulb that is V-HO or HO.

What is the big deal with T-5 besides the efficiency? how long do V-HOs last?
Besides bulb thickness, whats the difference from T12, T10, T8, T5 etc bulbs?
