I don't have any fancy bichir. Just a pets art one. I've had her for, geez, a year? Maybe a bit longer? She's a good plump and healthy 6-7 inches. I have a few questions about her.

1. Is a 55 big enough?
2. If yes to 1, how many total can fit in there?
3. How often should I feed her?
4. What is the absolute best diet for her?
5. How big will she get? I see online they say 12"-22" we'll geezums, that's a big gap!

Thanks for any help!!!

1. In my opinion no, while they are the smallest specie of poly they are one of the most active and he will use all 55 gallons. Most people will tell you they can though.

2. One, two maybe...

3. Everyday.

4. Hikari carnivore pellets, shrimp, tilapia and bloodworms as a treat every once and a while

5. If shes from petsmart and you're keeping her in a 55 8-10 inches (probably on the lower end of this) is typically what you can expect from a captive bred Senegal with poor genetics. The big ones that get 12" are wild caught and ive never seen a sen above 14" wild caught or otherwise.

Polys are great fish have fun with yours and if you have other questions feel free to ask.

If you stick to sens then a 55 is big enough for about 3. A 75 would be much better though as it has more area.
When full grown I feed my polys every few days, until then they get fed almost daily.
I feed a staple of New Life Spectrum Pellets. Bonus foods include sucker flesh, whole smelts, tilapia, worms, and sometimes tadpoles and small crayfish.
As archers said, they tend to max out around 8-10+. There have been several pics posted here of wild caught sens in the 16"+ range.
