First off yesterday i got an amazing piece of mushroom covered live rock for a great price from an LFS.

Now that i have the piece in my biocube lots of questions have come up lol.

First off, im still waiting for a replacement ballasts for one of the lights on my biocube. Should i switch from actnic to normal lighting about half wya threw the day or what?

Also, have already seen a ton of hitchikers!

I've seen i think two tentacles of a starfish, seems like its all thats left of him? He is thick, pokey, yellow with green blotches. any ideas?

There also was a small pink oval, kinda looked like a copepod, but very slow moving.

3 diffrent small mysid shrimp, a bristle worm (one of the silvergray kinds)

Also how often should i be feeding?

my most important question, is it looks like i have a few aptisa anenomes. Should i get a peppermint shrimp ASAP to deal with it quick?

I don't know the answer for the first few questions but for the last one I would recommend filling up a syringe with boiling hot water and spraying it on the aptesia.

<<Normal marine white light should be running average about 8 hours per day. Actinics will only really help for color to stand out more >>

<<Sounds like a common brittlestar to me, nothing to worry about>>

<<Possibly a pods, would need a photo to confirm, prob best you google copepod / isopod >>

<< Besides the mushroom coral, what else is in the tank?? >>

<< Go for it !! >> Or use the boiling water method mentioned above >>

Added some comments above, in red.

peppermint shrimp never really worked for me. Boiling water and lemon juice works really good. For you size tank, id do boiling water, as lemon juice can adjust your PH and ALK quickly.

lemone juice (in it), hot water (on it), and pepermint shrimp have all worked for me (pepermint shrimp are generally 80% successful, from what i've heard of others success)

good to know abouth he brittle star and the light stuff. I should only run it for 8 hours a day tho?

and i got 2 peppermint shrimp and they took care of all the glass anenome's overnight.

Always want to get peppermint shrimp in multiples. They tend to shy when they are by themselves, so they will not pick at anemones.
