Hi,
I Haven't really kept big cichlids before and was looking for some advice,
i was just wondering if its ok to keep big cichlids together in the same tank. Also can multiple pairs of cichlids be kept in the same tank?

thanks in advance,

If the tank is bigger enough it could work but might not , it all really depends on the fish them selfs . :D

The tank is 240g and the fish to choose from are festae's, cuban's,synspillum, green texas, jaguar's, midas and green terrors. Out of these which do you think can be kept together?

Theres really no telling. Trial and error. Though I think Ive read more than once that Midas and red devils are random murderers.

As stated, it's often trial and error. Most of the fish on your list should work ok together in a 240g but sometimes you have to remove a constant troublemaker. I also agree with Clslogic to stay away from Red Devils in a community tank.

Apart from the midas and maybe the jaguar do you think that the rest would be ok together, also which would be alright kept in pairs?

Aww, don't give up on Midas cichlids. Sure they could have exceedingly large amounts of blood lust, but they make up for it with personality. When you still get one for your tank make sure he is the smallest out of the rest. It'll give his tankmates the upper hand and size when he reaches those homicidal years. :naughty: :D

i have oscar, two black belts and one jag and one red devil that live content and happy with each other... it is totally up to the fish though.. unless you get a real bully type in one of them they will probably be very good with each other.. most times cichlids pic on their own type.. like if you had two of the same.. do you plan on growing them up from babies..? which is a better way to go..:D
