a few silver arowana questions

hey everyone got a 7 inch silver aro and during the day he spends alot of time on the bottom just hovering there i have read that this usually isnt a good sign but he has been that way since a got him a few months ago.at night he doesnt do this he just goes back and forth just like any normal aro would and he eats good everyday any input on that would be great. also i recently took all his gravel out and just keeping a bare bottom tank for him was curious of what i could use to keep the bottom stirred up so the filters will pick up waste and such. was thinking about using a submersible power head any suggestions ?thanks

you said that you just got him, so he's probably a bit shy, spooked, or uncomfortable while getting used to his new home. As long as it's eating, I would just give it some time to become more comfortable in his new surroundings. I would avoid bright lights for a few days possibly a week.
