What are those tetras ??

id like to ask you about the very last picture. spotted pike characin. do you know much about them ? mine looked just like that one but I moved him to a larger home and now he lost all the black color and is pretty light in color all over. still has the spots but much lighter and the black line down the middle of the body is gone.

I've had several of these in the past but due to their slender bodies most have met their end down the throats of various catfish I've kept. Some that I've kept retained darker pigmentation while others have taken on a lighter, speckled appearance as they grew. Sometimes it has been hard to tell what species I've had as almost all of them are sold in my area as "red tail barracuda". I definitely love these guys and their relatives. So fast, so sneaky, and capable of eating things much bigger than you think they could.

since gars are illegal in my area they sell them as S.A. Gars. I moved him from a standard single tube lighting to a beamswork 72" led lighted tank. I dunno if its the lighting of what.

He is about 5-6 inches at this point in time so we'll see how he shapes up as he grows. He wont be going in with the big boys till he is ready to rumble and incapable of being guzzled down lol
