I didn't write this, but it's excellent.
I believe that everyone should read this article, just found it, but it reinforces what I've always believed about reefing and taking advice. I think this mite help some people second guess things they have been told is "true" in all situations, when it's only true in some. Dispelling many fallacies of the industry, such as more light is always better, and more filtration is always better. The article doesn't preach a specific line of thinking, but has more of a rational view point that is just trying to explain how nothing is as cut and dry as we are made to believe by others, or by the retailers, everything has its place, and nothing is ALWAYS the right option for ALL situations. It says the trick is to find what is best for the setup that your looking for, in ex. You don't need metal halides for mushrooms, and you don't need a giant skimmer to keep your tank healthy (infact it talks about overskimming being harmful to corals unless food supliments are added).
If you like the article or not, I don't really care haha. Just thought it would bring a refreshing view to those who may not be having as much success as they mite like with a reef, even though they have "the best lights, best filters, and most water flow" allowing them to reassess what's wrong with their systems.
For those with questions or who like the article feel free to ask, as I have done alot of research along these lines and may be able to help clearify some points. If you don't like it, no worries, every has their own opinions, and as the article said, if what you do works then there is no problem and I'm cool with that, bringing us back to the old saying "if it aint broke dont fix it". That said, if you don't like it, feel free to tell me your opinion, the only way to learn is to experience things yourself, or listening to others experiences, and I'm always up for new info.
