I'm new to a tank the size of the one I have which is a 5ft 100gal tank 18in wide. Can some one give me a good varity mix of fish to stock my tank with on all ends of the spectrum as far as freshwater fish go. I've been to a few aquarium shops in my area and I keep getting alot of different answers as far as what can go in together and what can't, I not looking for the perfect mix because I'm pertty sure that doesn't exist but again a nice varity is what I'm shooting for.

That's way to big a question to answer here lol. Best thing to go is make a list of everything you like, then figure out what goes with what.

The reason you get different answers is because no two fish act the same, you can always get a rough idea, but sometimes the fish act in unexpected ways.

I would just work on getting it going. Once you start getting fish, you'll then be able to figure on what direction you will go with your tank.

First figure out what size fish you want, it sounds like you want a community tank so pick a size such as up to 5-6" and go from there. Some fish will be exceptions to the size rule.

Hey Les, can you help us out by picking at least ONE suitable fish that you like, then maybe we can help you build a suitable list of tankmates.

How about Aros? Dats? Birchir? Discus? Angels? Dwarf Chiclids?
is the tank likely to be planted, or not?

This would give us a good starting point to help you out.
