My reef tank is only 5 gallons (moving up to 10 as soon as the live rock and light get here!) and I had a hard time finding a skimmer that would fit.

I tried a Skilter (LFS recomendation) and it was crap! It was noisy, made lots of bubbles and no foam, and made too much "current" for my little tank.

I sold the Skilter on Ebay and bought myself a Current Nano Skimmer. I've read other forums that say they are junk, but I gotta tell you, I LOVE it!

It's quiet and I get good foam from it. It does take a bit of adjusting so the skimmer isn't putting lots of micro bubble out, but once it's set, it work great! Plus, it was only $30. Someday I will get a really excellent skimmer, like the Remora C, but that can wait because I'm not keeping any corals yet.

Just my two cents!

i use an air powered one for my nano reef and it works better than the jet one that i had before.

Current makes a nano skimmer. It's only 6and a half inches tall and 2inches in diameter. It's for tanks up to 30gallons. They have it at that fish place for $29.99.

Same one I would suggest. That is what most people use in there aquapods. Seem to be pretty nice. Or you could say screw the skimmer and just keep up on water changes and what not.

A skimmer for a tank that size is pretty pointless--as long as you're doing regular partial water changes, that's all the nutrient export you'll need

Once you move up to a little bigger tank, Current makes one and Remora is coming out with one in the next week or two also, might want to hold off and see the price and reviews on the Remora.
