Hello any and all who read this,
i got into the monster fish as a young kid. i had one Oscar in a 10 gallon tank until he got too big and i gave him up to the pet store. after that i never really had a tank until recent. it was almost a year ago i was an extreme alcohaulic and user that had no dream of stopping any of it at all. i soon realized some how one night that i was really to messed up to drive one of my kids to the hospital if needed and i decided to change right then. that night i committed my self to rehab and threw deturmanation and devotion im still clean today.
the main reason for this note is because it was about three months that went by and i was still trying so hard to get everything out of my mind when i decided i needed to have some fish in my life for the distraction and well, its an amazing hobby. it was Christmas of this last year 2012 when my wife thought that after many talks about my choice of hobby, that she decided to get me a 1 gallon tank and a beta and this was when the new found addiction took off.
last Christmas when i got that beta i decided to add a couple of tetra's to the bowl with him. that soon was too small i decided and dug out my old 55 gallon. the 55 was a great advancement but only then did i find that with two tetra's and a beta it was way too much room and i decided to start a collection of what i called the cool fish. i figured if i was going to consider this a hobby that i was intending of making the best of it. with some re-search of my original best friend when i was so young, and i decided to go and buy my first four Oscars.
the two albino, two regular tigers was fine until this whole new obsession caught the eye of my wife and she decided she wanted parrots as well. as you probably can see i was due to be a lifer. with the new hobby i started researching for a lot of information on all of my newly acquired companions and almost all the searches for info lead me directly here to MFK where in the contents of all the posts were the answers to any and all of my questions. MFK has helped me incredably with all of the information sence christmas wether i have a fish acting funny, a fish i am looking for information on, or a general aquarium question involving filtration and more, the MFK always had the answer with tens of thousands of members this is clearly the best cite that i could have ever found right from the start and im not sure i would be as advanced as i am now without you guys to thank.
last but not least, now five months latter have a 180 gallon tank with a fx5 and a 70 gallon filter as well. in the tank i now have the four Oscars that i was mentioning, four parrots, two rtc's, two dragon fish, and some 8 random Africans that i came upon from someone that just wanted the gone in there for now. in the 55 that i upgraded to i have two red eared sliders and about twenty feeders at all times they eat when ever ready. currently i am planning on a large pond that without you folks i would not be able to build in my basement for the turtles and the cats when they get to be full sized and the parrots are going to there own 45 gallon im calling parrot paradice. and after that the 55 will house the Africans that i came across making the 180 strictly for the monsters.
so thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and i can not thank the cite and members for the wealth of knowledge within enough and i will be a member for life!
