A guessing game for ponders

Guys, let's increase more traffics in here, and let's play a guessing game. Can you guess what I was doing when I took these pictures? Hint: it was snowing in my neck of the wood a few weeks ago!

that is no way a home made heater, its a florescent bulb, practically doesnt produce heat. i say just covering up the pond so snow doesnt fall in , that light is just so there will be some light in the pond while its covered?

Winterizing

You built a night-light for your fish?

interesting! I used heat lamps for chickens in the past. Hopefully it works.
OK. I give you my answer. You guys get the partial answers, i.e., night-light, heater, keeping warm, keeping snow away, etc... All your answers have pointed toward.... WINTERIZING! Hey I want to protect my fishies from harsh environments so that they will have long lives just like this 226-year-old-koi:

Dave.

226-year-old-koi?

I'm not sure 100%, but the info (see below quote) from Wikipedia.com is pretty reliable. By the way, Wikipedia has helped me to pick winners, i.e., the Presidents of United States, Governors, Senators, Congressmen, Freeholders, Mayors, etc... When Wikipedia reports that Hanako is 226 years old, I believe it; thus, I share the info with you guys. Happy Thanksgiving.

From Wikipedia.com: "Koi can live for centuries. One famous scarlet koi, named "Hanako" (c. 1751 – July 7, 1977) was owned by several individuals, the last of whom was Dr. Komei Koshihara. Hanako was reportedly 226 years old upon her death.[11][12][13][14] Her age was determined by removing one of her scales and examining it extensively in 1966. She is (to date) the longest-lived koi fish ever recorded.[15][16]"

Dont belive everything you read on Wiki !

Nice idea tho , by using a light in your pond .

It's used in the Salmon Trade too , to trick the Salmon into beliveing its still Summer when its really Winter so it makes them keep thier Bright Silver colour and not turn a dull brown . By putting a Light in the ponds of the Salmon , the Farmers can sell Salmon all year round and not just the in the Summer . Ect . :)
