A hardy little fishy (SH)

Today my 4 inch C. gachua jumped out of it´s tank (I had forgotten to put the cover glass back on). I didn´t see the incident and when I found him he was all dry and stif. But I thought I saw his gill move just a little bit... Then I remember a story my father had told me about a pleco. He had that had jumped out of it´s tank and dried, but my father but him back and in a couple of hours he was fine again. So I thought that it was worth a try to but my SH back in his tank. So I did and now, a couple of hours later, he´s fine

Anybody else who got similar stories to tell about hardy snakeheads or any other fish?

yes, i had a baby striata, it was under 1", and i found it. it was still juicy, and i thought it would make it, but it died the next day. another tiime it happend to my very first striata, and that one was out for several hours. it died too...

i seems that babies and juves arent as strong as adults....

this has happened several times with me with some of my others, but nothing for more than 10mins or so. .

I had a rope fish a long time ago, i couldn't find it anywhere in my tank so i thought it was just hiding.. after geting over curious a couple hours later I inspected all my aquarium decor,no luck. then i searched around the tank and sure enough it was all dried up underneath my dresser. I was quite pissed so i just tossed him in my water changing bucket that had maybe an inch of water in it and to my surprise he started squiggling all over the place the very second he hit the water. tosed him back in the tank and he was fine. end of story

i had a bristlenose pleco which sucked himself on to the glass cover, he then was cooked slowly by the lamp heat and stank out my whole room, i didnt bother putting him in the tank because he was surely gone.....stinky stuff!

they can live outta water for 3 days with enought moisture...mine stayed on the floor for a few hours and when i found him he was staring at me from under the tank trying to wiggle away when i grabed him he started snapping at me to let him go....they got them lungs on them

Thats why snakeheads are banned from many countries,they can leave the water and search out new ponds,lakes or rivers.One leaves the water to hunt cockroaches on land.They are a very hardy species tolerating poor water quality but very sensitive to chlorine and disolved metals.Many are killed by large water changes.Good to hear yours survived erik.

There are several threads showing different kinds of snakeheads, this is a pic of the species they are refering to here, Channa gachua.
