As my nick suggested, I have always been a big fan of wolves and at one point, kept a comm tank of different wolves.

Lacerdae (the “true” ones that AshDavid and DB Junkie keep) was my grail despite the notion Asia gets them regularly. This is probably the second or third them I ever seen them being imported. Aimara, Curupira and of course Mala are the regular imports.

When I got to know there is one available from a reputable source; I asked for pics and reassurance from MFK before getting it the very next day.

The fish at LFS before bagging. Its color was rather washed out then.

The fish in my grow out with a darker background.

It has started taking fish slices the very next day and as of today, pellets too.

Pardon my reflection. LOL! It’s about 8 inches at the moment and depending on his growth and temperament, there are plans to either move him to comm with my GAFT months later or perhaps build another wolves comm around him.

Thanks for reading.

Good looking Hoplias. Congrats on the pick up.

Sincere thanks. I was like actually like a kid inside a candy store during the purchase and my wife was pretty amused to.

Add: Echoing the keepers of this wolf, it’s rather active (especially when hungry) swimming all over tank like a Curupira

Curious to see how this guy grows. They’re suppose to get up to 30in right?
Lacs are said to get 3' in the wild. Can't say I've ever searched or came across something to support it. In aquaria, we only have DB's to go by. So can't say where they top out.

Quick update. Moved it to a bigger tank about 6-7 weeks back then. Diet is still mostly massivore pellets (about 20-30 per feeding) and sometimes fish slices. Pretty sure it can gorge down more if I increase the amount.

Grew about 1-2 inches I reckoned.

I must be under feeding my aimara. He’s 20in and gets about 40-45 massivore pellets 4-5 times a week. :)
