A little advice please

I just got a 40 gal freshwater tank with good filtration and heating and i was wondering what I could put into it with a 4" fahaka puffer

I know hes gunna nip at anything I put in there I just wanna hear what you guys think would be the safest or best match with my puff

Unfortunately, nothing. I have seen in rare cases where they have maybe one or two fish that they just ignore. There's no specific species. A puffer of any kind will have at anything in the tank. Also, your fahaka is going to get big. At adult size, I'd have it in at least 75 to 120 gallons. I just wouldn't reccomend putting anything else in the tank with it.

I echo K626's comments. My fahaka considered anything in his tank to be a food item or play-thing to rip apart.

my tank is a tall though if i got a baby aro or another top dwelling fish would I be fine?
and ive got a month or two before i have to get him out of my 40 and into something bigger correct? or do i have more time than that

Wouldn't risk it. Why pay good money for an aro just to have the fahaka take a chunk out of it?

trust me, a puffer will kill, anything that you put in that tank
