I know i may be over reacting, but just a little while ago i had to catch my ray in the net to remove one of the worms i fed it from sticking out one of the "gills" behind the right eye. All went well i took my time with a tweezer and pulled the worm out. Think he bit off more than he could chew. Anyway the problem came when i realized the longer of his spines got caught in the net. It took some careful work but i got it out, only now the sheath which covers the spine is bruised and torn. Will that heal over? Do i need to treat it in any way?

Oh, well when i saw the worm coming out there, i got worried. Did not know it was a normal occurrence. Ok cool, won't freak out next time it happens then.

Believe it or not I had a otorongo wild caught that would not eat anything and the way I got it to eat was by letting it suck worms in through it's spiracle. I did this a couple of times and it started eating on it's own

+1 I think its funny when a ray eats a large worm and half comes out the top side. Happens often but they always suck them back in to finish them off. But the worms up by friend to keep them smaller for the ray.

The skin on the spine will not grow back, no worries cause it will fall off soon anyways
