Hi everyone, I have 3 little Cuban cichlid size 2 1/2” but only one likes mirror fighting - does it mean a boy because another 2 doesn’t like mirror fights but both really aggressive always chase the one love mirror fighting - thanks

Not necessarily it could just be the dominant one of the 3.

Females are usually 1/3 smaller than males, have a solid dark color section in the dorsal. and are more torpedo shaped.
Here is a female, at time of photo 3.5-4"

Males (below)have more mottling in the dorsal, and a steeper profile

My only 2 1/2” or close to 3” - how big they really show up different colors? Thanks

My females started showing colors fairly early (maybe 3"), the one below appeared to be female at less the 3"..

Now, below one that appeared to be male at @ the same time size

Just a word of warning if your tank is less than 6 ft. and if some are larger than others.
I tried raising some of their fry in a 40 breeder, but found the largest would either eat, or kill its smaller siblings without hesitation.
