After lastnite it's on like Donkey Kong - Nitites 0, Nitrates .05.

5 weeks and the only organism I've seen from the LR is 1 lousey copepod. Granted I've got lime green coraline growth and some type of red coral type sprouts eveywhere but no jellyfish or crabs or worms or any type of interesting creature. I was led to believe both from my LFS and Internet sites that after 3 weeks or so hitchhiker eggs would hatch and things would be super interesting. Nope not all 5 weeks of a pile of rocks.
Perhaps in the long run this was a good thing, gotta good clean cycle, and now time for some fish.
 
Yea, its always interesting to see what comes with liverock. However, I think you should consider yourself lucky. Other then a stomatella and some asterina starfish, everything else I have gotten were a bunch of pest that made me want to pull my hair out.
 
If you have seen one pod you have a thousand. Im sure there is more living than you think. Throw a little frozen food in during the night and watch with a flash light. Most of the crabs and shrimp that come in on rock are a PITA.
 
Never gotten a pest from LR...maybe I am just lucky. I guess that I got some aptasia, but I am okay with that, and there are none in my new tank!
 
Hey don't worry,

I was always expecting kim kardashian to crawl out of the live rock eventually........but after 75 pounds of live rock...no luck :(

We don't get what we want...........life will be too easy.


Lmfao, i get nothing out of my live rock, but sometimes the living things are tiny, I found numerous tiny snails...unless the snails bred in my tank like hamsters...
