hey everyone. im currently living in georgia(and have lived here for 19 years now) and i've been thinking of moving to oregon or washington state in about 2-3years. im looking at school in oregon(OIMB), charleston, or to be exact. if i move to wasthington id be moving to seattle(university of washington) or pullman, wa(washington state university).

just wondering if you guys can tell me about the areas and states.what are some likes/dislikes you have about them, how's the cost of living, weather, etc? the furthest west i've visitted is texas so it will be a huge move for me.

yes i know it rains alot but tell me something different :D i dont mind the rain :)

any feedback would be appreciated! thanks guys

Hmm, well for one we're the 14th biggest market in the US. :nilly: But seriously Summers are awesome not too hot, hardly any rain ;P. Spring and Fall can also be great.

UW is one of the best Universities in the US, I think it's ranked top 5 among medical schools.

Seattle is about 2hrs away from seeing live Asian Arowana's. Vancouver, Canada lol

Decent to pretty good indie music scene depending on your tastes. Real good Restaurants in the area, mouth waters thinking of food :D....

i will admit steelhead and salmon fishing are really great in wa. i just did not like the rainy weather,

Can't tell you about Oregon much, but I really didn't like the WSU campus much at all. With it being located in Pullman there is absolutely nothing to do in the surrounding area, as it's all farmland. A good school for farming/agriculture and veterinarians. It gets very cold in the winter and too hot in the summer.

I attended UW for one summer session to finish my degree and I really liked it. The campus is beautiful, lots of trees and trails and it goes down to Puget Sound. Lots to do in the area as it's located in Seattle.

I love living in Western Washington. We have so much to do outside. There is the ocean, Puget Sound, mountains, amazing old growth temperate rain forests, hiking, backpacking, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, hunting and camping. The Olympic National Forest is some of the best hiking/fishing/views in the US. (I tend to do things outside.)

The cost of living is much higher on the west side of the state vs. the east. And the west is more liberal when compared to the eastern half.

Contrary to what most people think, over half of Washington is actually fairly arid and desert like. The Cascade Mountains cause a rain shadow effect so the eastern slopes are quite dry.

I don't really know the Coos Bay (Charleston) area very well, but I've heard it's nice. It is warmer than average for the state, so it won't be too much of a shock for your Georgia blood :)

Oregon has lots to offer if you're into outdoors - fishing and crabbing is great in Coos Bay! If you like good beer, we're the microbrew capital of the world. We have no sales tax. If you're in Charleston the Redwoods are just a few hours South.

Let us know when you make up your mind!

Oregon is a nice place to live, at times it's got it's ups and downs like every other state it has nice wild life lots of trees. The winter is preety rainy though bout every other season is nice just perfect in my opinion we don't got hurricanes or tornados yet to have a big real katrastapgy excuise my spelling:screwy:but are gas prices are horrible 4.00+ a gallon it's a disgrace imo but ye if u like widlife and have an aquarium its a good place to live power like never goes out so don't got worry bout that and for houses you can get decent prices ones or cheap and expensive im sure you could find what your looking for and yes the colleges are good here better then whasington =) well have fun moving to where ever your going to move.
-best of luck
