Can someone tell me what Cichlas do I have here? Both seem to be the same species... But one of them has some metallic spangling over the body. It's the bigger one, and it was the only of 12 that came from the same collection site which has these markings. Check images below. ;)

Oh, almost forgot... BOTH are eating non-living already... :naughty:

Best regards.

what river were these guys collected from daniel? was it local to you or a neighboring contry?

Local... They are from Ceará state, NE Brazil. Introduced population, of course... And there are lots of tems around too, BTW.

D'Mack, do you think the bigger one is gonna retain these AWESOME colors? I just LOVE its markings... Actually that was the reason I bought them, because they were already bagged together. I had to buy both them or FORGET'em.

Oh, almost forgot... They're 6-7 inches long and LOVE raw shrimps and chicken meat. :naughty:

Best regards.

the spotting will in time merge and form a solid color as most do,but the coloration will become more intense with age...they look to be ocellaris to me...an most that have spotting will (the spots) get larger and closer untill finally they merge and make a uniform gold sheen....they will look great around 12-15" as the ones I had from South america that looked similiar and were spotted didnt begin looking awesome untill about 14" or so...they rocked at that point as the spotting merged and they developed alot of white speckling. Tell me ...were these from a certain lake and introduced there? just wondering if the original batch are from a lake in that area.

Can't say the source of the original specimens... But I'll talk to the collector to know where did these babies come from and tell you. Let's see if this information helps. :D

Best regards.

Daniel.
