lets see
sump pump from Harbor freight rated at 1400gph with a maximum head of 28.3 feet.Top barb connection allows me to hook up a hose to pump water up from a holding tank out the basement window for waterchanges.
1400gph/60=23.333gpm
23gpm/60=.3888 gallon per second
tripping over the hose during a waterchange, dislocates the hose.
takes about 11 seconds to get to the plug and pull it.
11 x .3888 = 4.278 gallons of water dripping from the ceiling.
yep sounds about right.:irked:

Sorry, but... You painted that picture too well. And since it didn't happen to me this time...

Glad someone appreciated a little wry humor.Youre not a real fishkeeper till you spill some water!we all do it.;)

lol, thats pretty rough, i tipped a bucket of water over once changing water, thats about the worst that ive taken place in

Pulled the hose out of my python. Couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any siphon action. Then I walked back to check the sink.

try living with 4 roommates and in the same week having the hose on your python explode on the second floor leading up to the 3rd floor so you flood both the basement and the second floor only to have the seal on your 55 give while on the 3rd floor letting 25 gallons of water flood all 3 floors. Took alot of work and alot of beer to not have my roommates kill me that week!

I have my tanks in the finished basement/ kids room and i dump all my water changes in the washing machine drain . Last time I did it I forgot to put the washer drain hose back in , day later the wife did a load of laundry , went to change loads and water was everywhere lol . Im still paying for that one

I siphon water change water out the back screen door.... which is around the corner and 25' from the tanks.... after siphoning 50% out of a 40g tank, I found that the cats managed to pull the end of the siphon hose back into the house....

Wet socks.
