So I have had her for just under a year now, no growth. I had to start to wonder if it was just me. Had my water checked since I have had 2 stunted Fahakas beforehand and everything is in spec as it should be. I figured my little girl has had IPs since I had gotten her. She always gets very skinny even with just 24 hours between feedings. I tried multiple treatments of many different products. This month I ordered some PraziPro and followed the directions. I was told no more than two treatments in a row. It was in her water 2 weeks, and now one week after being in regular non-medicated water again this is what I am seeing. Is this dead worms passing or something I should retreat? I am hoping that she will begin to grow if all goes well but id imagine this long living with IPs would stunt her? Any and all help appreciated. Thanks everyone.

She is so beautifully colored and very active and personal, an all around exceptional fish.

Looks like there could definitely be a worm or parasite coming out. keep up the treatment and keep vacuuming the substrate when she poops. I had the same thing with my Fahaka and after one treatment she's grown about 2" this month alone.

That is deff IP going on there. That Mbu should be around 12 inches now also. I would treat with a medication that is applied on the food and digested.

What med would you recommend? Can I use Prazipro as a food soak? I knew she should be around a foot at this point but no such luck which is why I kept treating over and over again.

I took two weeks off of the meds and since that picture was taken I have not seen any worm like poo, however I am not home enough to really watch her. Between feedings her stomach still looks lumpy. I did a large water change two days ago and have begun another two week treatment of prazipro. I have the recommended amount in the water and will do so for two weeks.

I read the back of the container and nowhere does it mention it can or can not be used as a food soak. I did a little scouring of the internet and everything I saw said DO NOT use it in such a way because it can kill your fish. All of my food however is soaked in tank water to thaw out but I'm sure once the meds are dispersed in the tank and the food is soaked little to no meds actually get soaked in.

I used two forms of fizz tablets before trying prazipro. Both of those I used as a food soak after being told on here that freshwater puffers dont "drink" water so therefore medicating the tank does nothing. That seems a bit weird to me because I would think in the same way oxygen is picked up in the gills, the meds would be absorbed as well. I'm not fishyologist though.

You MUST soak his food in it to kill internal parasites.

SW fish are hypotonic to the surrounding SW, so must drink almost constantly and dump the excess minerals by not taking them up through the gut wall, and/or by dumping them in the urine. FW fish are hypertonic to the surrounding water, so do not drink as they absorb water through their skins constantly - but dissolved meds will not be absorbed - it is just pure H20 that passes through. (dissolved materials are excluded).

Is there a certain prazipro to h20 mix I can put together for soaking?

One of my friends that had a fahaka with ips used levimasole and after four weeks was good to go.

At what kind of ratio? I am pretty sure I can get that from my moms vet hospital but the last thing I would want is an over dosage. What frequency of feedings and how potent of a soaking solution? Thanks.
