I have had my male FH for around 1 year now.
In the last month or two it started showing real heavy signs of Hex.

The Blood Parrot in with him seemed to be infected too.

I lost all hope, tried loads of tricks and meds to no avail.
Was at an all time low when a friend gave me a bottle of ESHA Hex treatment.
I tried it and boom! it worked! Both fish are now eating again for the first time in weeks, and look and act healthy as hell!

Part 2 of thew good news came the other week when the bred!
Eggs were fertilized, hatched and I seperated them.
There was only about 30 hatched, half of those got eaten, and 5 of the surviving died.

I now have 10 happy swimming, eating and growing fry.

I am over the moon.

Here are a few pics of dad/mum and babies.

Can't wait to see what these guys look like when they grow!

Oh wow, congrats. Nice FH.

Congrats on bringing your fish back from the dead.

yoganathan - probiotic bacteria isn't going to do sweet tweet for a fish that has a case of hexamita/spironucleus. Misdiagnosis is often the case with most fish pathogens, which is why many hobbyists use a shotgun approach when medicating.

Thanks for the comments people!

RD, that link was a very interesting read. Thankyou.

As of right now, my female has just dumped a ton of eggs again!
All look like they have been fertilized too.

RD. THIS I HAVE SERIOUS DOUBTS. IT'S NOT ACTUALLY PROBIOTIC BACTERIA,
i used that term for want of a better term. it contained various lacto bacillus strains which aid in digestion. i'm saying this b'cos if u use metronidazole or any other anti biotics. they will destroy the helpful bacteria living in the guts.
due to this action food will not be absorbed efficiently. so i used thhose bacteria after treating that fish with metronidazole i.v soln. see the pics below for further clarification. thanx:)

the above pages are from the book "FISH DISEASE-diagnosis and treatment" WRITTEN BY EDWARD.J.NOGA.
for me the helpful bacteria were good. it would be more enlightening if somebody else also used this treatment and confirmed it's effectiveness. cheers
