I found, bought, and tried out a net that is perfect for catching/moving fish that get snagged to conventional netting material. I use a press-formed rubber net to move fish like gars, rays, large plecos, catfish, and any fish I'm worried will get stuck in a regular nylon or monofilament net. The rubber net is one-piece instead of a woven material so there's no knotted area to snag spines. Plus, the rubber mesh is fairly wide which also prevents snags. Here's a pic of a rubber net.

That's sweet. I need to get one of those. I've had one close call with a catfish already. Where did you find it at?

What size ray did you try in it?

Great suggestion... i almost always resort to trash bags since my biggest net is about 10 inch circ.. I can brag about my netting skills but id rather use a bigger net.

Sweet, that's a good idea. I have seen those before, but they are for landing monsters, not keeping monsters. LOL

I found my 1st one at a local bait shop. I've since bought a couple of different sizes/shapes from sellers on ebay. They worked great with my titanic and royal panaques. Also, had no snags with the tropical gar or uranoscopus.

i noticed your avatar, do you know when wandy and chuck are scheduled to fight? i know if chuck doesnt beat babalu then they wont fight anytime soon.

back to the topic, thats a good idea i always see them nets for sale. are they durable?

I picked up a similar net at my local walmart. I find it moves too slow through the water to catch anything under 6" in my 750g!

Any tank above a 75, I use 2 nets and herd the fish between them.

You can find them at walmarts and sporting goods stores. They are made for fishing because its safer for the fish, but they will definately be more expensive than regular nets
