I am in the process of starting a new DIY project i am going to start on a DIY headboard fish tank for my sons 55gal and his full bed. the main stand will be about 6ft long and about 5-6' tall. i have everything all on paper and have done this over the past year or so. just getting around to having the time to start on it before winter gets here.

There are so many ways to go about this so i am sure my plans will change as i go along. the tank itself will be fully enclosed on the sides and top. the only thing exposed will be the front glass.

but first things first i have to go get him a new bed so he can lose his bunk bed. i will also be building the frame of the bed to match this headboard.

more to come folks! just wanted to share

and i will make sure to take pics as i go along!

Someone did that not too long ago. Do a search, I'm sure you'll find it. You may get a few ideas of what or what not to do?? Keep us posted.

this is a project i have had in the back of my mind for more then a year, i have the plans just the way i want them. altho plans allways change just as they did when i did my last stand and canopy :D

I was going to do that, then I got scared that I would end up with my head in it.

thought went through my head but i have is designed that even if he has stacked pillows they will be below the bottom of the tank. so i don't have to worry about this kinda of thing happening

I wanted to do this quite a few years ago but my wife didn't much care for the idea. She didn't want to hear it.
My plan was to put light switches on both sides, in storage cubbies (bellow the tank) so we would both have our own side light in the evening. (in the tank) If one goes to sleep before the other, they can turn off their side.
