A new era for me at least :). Starting over after my tank sprung a small leak in one of the seams, Unfortunately I was away long enough for it to completely empty all over the dang floor. I do believe it was my stand that caused the issue but its over now so moving on...

Tank has been scraped down and resealed and the new stand arrived last week. 1/4'' angle iron.

Not playing around this time!

If you look closely in the first picture you can see on each end its hanging over 1/4'' which still gives me 1/2'' of the rim sitting on the steel. Should I be worried about this or should I add some 2X4s on each end to help out. May even wedge some in between the Iron for more support. The shortage was my fault because I gave him dims of the glass not the bracing :irked:... The long sides are perfectly resting on the stand.

Water testing begins.

Success! Gonna give it a month before I start cycling just to be safe.

Just putting this in the Cichla section to reserve a spot for when I get my new batch of whatever it may be, Possibly some Intermedia if I can save my Pennies. Plus this section is dead anyway so why not bring in some conversation!

Drain and put a piece of 3/4" plywood under the tank!
U gotta have supports under all that glass!
Cant wait to see what you put in it! ANd remember go way overkill on your filtration!

Yep, I'm second about put another plywood under the tank, it's always safe than sorry later and it's easy enough when the tank is still empty

None of the glass touches anything actually lol, Its recessed up under the rim about 1''. Heck I even called marineland and they told me to look at all there factory stand which also only have the trim supported.

Put plywood under it!!!!
YOu have nothing supporting the bottom of that tank except one metal brace.
The glass itself needs something to support it.
If it were me id go 3/4" ply with 1/2" foam on top of that.

Not trying to argue man but by adding plywood and foam, the bottom of the glass would still be up an inch under the trim. So the plywood and foam would still be an inch away from the glass.

You are correct about the glass but the weight of all that water is mostly supported by the edges of the tank...where the trim is of course..and it is important for the two ends to be supported completely.

I got ya, Well no point in messing around. I have some extra 2X4s so what Im going to do is put up 3 of them on each end flush with the stand and screw some 3/4'' plywood to those across the top just in case and call it a day.

Meh, still leaking after I drained it and went to add supports, I found some water on the ground this morning. Just shifting the tank around empty caused my seal to break once again. Obviously there are some serious issues in the main seal. Hope Marineland helps me out warranty wise or I'll be done for a while. Don't really have the money to get a brand new tank.. gosh this hobby hates me!
