i made a guess at it. But I am unsure how to properly calculate a tank size for this group of fish. So I figured where better a place then the characin forum. :D

Thanks

most of those fish exceed 3ft or more

alot of ppl flame on those who have one 3fter in 125gals

i would say about 150-200gals per fish because some get larger and possiboly territorial

i would go about 1500-2000
of course bigger is better

to me it sounds like a suicide mission with the fish combo...

actually just take out the rhaph and the snake and u should b ok in a 2k gallon

in addition to tank size, when collecting the fish, need to choose the size correctly so that the faster growers dont become a threat. gars will poach the other fish, rtc's and other large catfish are an issue as well...

u need like public aquarium size tanks to house all these. they all get huge. if u have the money and space to set up a tank thats in the 1000's of gallons go for it, but if not, u gotta really rethink the setup

Yeah that looks like a somewhat deadly combo for a new guy to the hobby. Maybe with the help of all it could be done though..speaking of properly sizeing the fish up ect. ect. I don't know how serious the guy is about this. I would say a 1500 Gal minimum to start. Preferabvly a 2-2.5K gal. That would still be pretty tight in a couple years.

Agree with this. Sounds cool from the looks of it. But you're talking a PITA for anyone, especially someone new to get some of the predators to work. Especially since you'll be growing them out in a smaller tank first. At least I would.

The only fish I'm unsure of is the dorado's. And that's only because I'm not sure how skittish they are/how territorial. Other than that I do disagree on reasonable tank size. I'd stick it all in a 8'x4' and call it a day. Oh and you're in the US and snakeheads are federally banned so you can't have them. I'm also not sure if the Rhaph would be predatory enough, get large enough, etc to make it in that combo.

Thank you for all your help.. I have most of the fish already in a 55 gallon but am waiting to get all of them to but them in my 200 gallon.. and am already working on a 450 gallon?
