My first batch of 70-80 babies are about 1 inch long right now. I'm breeding them for feeders so I'm waiting for them to get a little bit bigger before I feed them to my fish.

well lets see.... i put in 4 cons, into my P tank to feed, well 2 got eaten, and the other two decied they were going to breed, had prolly 70+ fry start to grow out, started feeding the smaller fry to my rope fish, mayan, and GT. than i gave a bunch away, still have about 10 or so, and the P's just ate the female cone about 2 days ago. thank god, hopefully no more babies.... stressed the crap out of my P's

I've had my male for about a year or two and he has had 5 different females 4 of which he killed and has now had this 5th one for a while now. They are on their second batch of fry and lookin like they are ready for a third.

well i used to be good at breeding them,i had 3 tanks of fry when i was a kid,but now i cant seem to keep the fry alive, and its such a sad case cause they are so easy.i cant even keep my jd fry alive either.they all get eaten by their parents

I've been breeding them for about 3 years now. Had a 55 gal set up with one pair. They filled it within 4 months. After a 4th tank transfer the male started picking on the female. I ended up giving her to a buddy of mine who also breeds them for feeders (mine were breed as feeders and to supply some of the LFS in town). My original male paired up with one of his daugthers who was in the tank. They have been paired for about 8 months now and going strong. I only use the offspring for feeders now. I have a great 5 inch pink male and his mate is a 4 inch striped female that came from pink/striped parent cross.

don't have alot to add, but my cons just had some fry. i went to clean the tank and was very happy to see wigglers coming out of the cave the female stays in.
