Those will have glass that will filter out almost all of the UVB and most of the UVA radiation, which is what most people want when they purchased a mercury vapor bulb.
However, they probably will still produce a lot of visible light and heat for an under $20 bulb so they still have some application. That's a good find.

Monitors require those basking spots too, I have some basking spots at 150f and above for more dry arid species like griseus, flavirufus
