I typically change my set ups a lot, but for now I have a nice little Asian arowana community tank. Tank size is 270 gallons. I have two Merlion Blood Reds from Dreamfish, a couple Blue Base Cross Backs (BBXB) from Panda, and a couple Gold Base Cross Backs from Panda. All fish are about 7.5-8 inches in size. As dither fish (for distraction) I have a couple flagtails (two different species) and some common silver dollars.
I was planning on going with WTT (white tank treatment), but only the gold XB's seem to have had WTT up till now, so I might switch to a darker background.
I will install some internal power heads to create a strong current in the tank. Nic, the owner of Dreamfish in Singapore, gave me that advice. In his words, the extra current keeps the fish busy swimming instead of fighting, and also makes the fish feel they are in a larger tank than they are, thus making them less territorial. This reasoning would likely work with Jardini or SAmerican aowana too I think.
