On Thursday, approx 6:30 we had our little girl ferret put down, it was a result of a traumatic 3 day saga which began with an emergency visit to a not so local exotic vet. Unfortunately no one can really treat ferrets that well except for a tiny handful. The week started with a call at 5:40 pm to this vet, they agreed to stay open past 6:30 for us, but would charge afterhours fees if we could not make it on time, which is fair enough.
Fortunately my driving skills do pay off sometimes, we make the 1 hour peak hour trip in 35 minuets.
After talking about different alternatives and out comes, we received a call today saying that this ferrets case was “interesting”. To be honest with you, you never want to hear from a doctor or a vet that something is “interesting”.

We later had a call at 4:30 that we should start to come into the vet because of difficulties.
This vet did all he could, and for that we are extremely grateful. But unfortunately we had to make the decision to euthanize our little baby. She was 3.5 years old and is now buried in my parent’s front yard with our other pets.
I think our 2 boys will miss her as well; it’s been just one of those days.

what a shame, sorry about that. When you hear, interesting, it usually means they do not know what is wrong- did they?

They knew it was cancerous (most ferrets get a cancer of some type) they just didn’t know where.. Her lungs were filling with fluids so that’s what I meant by “difficulties” There were many x-rays involved.

Very sorry for your loss. It's never is a good sign when the say "Interesting". Atleast no one can take away the memories.
