my friend called me the other day, and is offering his pacu to me. right now he is around 7 to 8 inches he told me.
i'm thinking of aquiring it but i want to know what i'm gettin myself into before i jump right in. like max size the size housing i'm going to be looking at etc..
any help would be appreciated. :arapaimag :feedback:

I have two that is about 12 inches each. They are now in my neighbors pond because they eat everything before the other fishies can get to them. I mean they eat ALOT! And they they get huge too... I've seen one at 24 inches.

They are omnivorous poop machines that can reach over 30lbs. they grow quickly and you can often find them for free because they get way to big for most tanks.

so if i do decide to take him i'm looking at a really big home for him. like say the 8 by 11 pond i plan to build.

I ordered a 750g to house mine. They tend to be skittish in confined spaces.

Tanks would be too small..... you will probably need a big pond to house a full grown one safely as they are notorious of smashing up tanks.

damn, this sucks, i wanted a sliver dollar so i got one at walmart, actually it turned out to be a pacu(not a red belly tho, and thats all walmart has). no hes about 10" and i dontknow what to do with em, hes getting HUGE!
