Okay, so I don't consider myself a photographer by any means.. but its still a nightmare!
A few months back I finally took the leap and bought myself a Rebel XT, 2 decent lenses, etc. I am in love, this camera is great! The speed, the options, the speed, the ease of use, the speed... did I mention it is FAST?
Well anyways, I haven't had a ton of time to take fish pictures, so I was totally geared up for the ACA (American Cichlid Convention) last week. Drove down, visited the Shedd, took tons of pictures at the Shedd and of the show fish, had a great time, drove home.
Got home around 11:30pm Saturday night (had a family picnic the next day), and spent a few hours unloading my car (setting up a tank, going out to the car and getting another, setting it up), etc. By the time I got the tanks in and all the fish settled in, I didn't feel like carrying everything else in (more tanks, bags of stuff I bought, etc) so I just locked up my car and called it a night. Next day, when leaving for the picnic, realized my camera wasn't in the car anymore. I specifically packed it in a tank in the back seat so it wouldn't be bouncing around... someone snitched it while I was going back and forth! We are on a busy street with a big light above my car, but also a lot of drunks and bored kids tend to walk past on their way to the local George Webb (24 hour greasy spoon type restraunt) late at night. Well, I searched the house over and over, checked with the hotel (even though I know I packed it in the car, in a specific place).. its nowhere to be found.
Long story short, police report filed, my insurance is covering it but with a $500 deductable! And of course, I spent a good chunk of my "spending money" at the ACA. So now I have to suffer a while while I save up to buy the replacement. *sigh*
Well, if anyone one needs a brand new Canon BG-E3 battery grip, I got one for sale! Never even took it out of the box!
Hopefully I'll get the pictures from the Shedd and the show fish online in a few days, luckily I took my laptop along and uploaded them all while we ate dinner Saturday night, or I wouldn't have ANY of my pictures from the trip.
Good to talk to you guys again, even if it was a bad thing that brought me back *sigh*. Hopefully I'll get it replaced soon and be able to participate more.
