I caught it in a cast net on my first throw of the day--must have been close to 16 inches long

Wow he's big, nice catch I've always wanted to try nets! Hopefully ur tank is 18" wide. Also check ur local laws but I'm pretty sure its illegal to throw him back where u got him due to to cross contamination of desease and such from ur tank.

Nice catch. Like F1 said, don't release it back into the wild. I'm also going to let you know that netting gamefish is illegal almost everywhere, so hopefully you checked your local laws....
