I am getting a lovely 9" indo dat soon from Berserker, and i was wondering if you think that he's be ok in a 4x2x2 with plenty of plnats and bogwood, a 6" true parrot, and two 4" Port acara and some l-numbers and 4 1.5 Indo dats, do you think that the new indo could eat the old indos? Or would it be better having a 48x30x24 to itself? Thanks.

i've heard about big dats totally ignore little ones, but i've never put this theory to the test myself. umm...try it and let us know =P

Ive had dats of different sizes together with no problems. Ive never personally had that big of a size difference that you describe. If it were me, I would keep them separate. If your feeding live, he might mistake a little one for a feeder in the feeding frenzy.

i peronslaly tried out 8-9 inch dats with 1-2 inch indos. they wont bite. i dont know why.... but the big dats just leave them alone. its kinda weird. maybe a mutaul aggreement that when i get bigger i wont mess with you when you turn into a fat old bastard

Bruce he could well eat those smaller Indos-what about your 6'x2'x2'? He'll be fine with the others
Ok mate, he's going into the 6x2x2 i don't want to risk it. He'll love all the swimming room in there. And the silver dollars and red hooks will make very good dithers for him. Thanks mate.

He'll be fine with those fish and I think in that size tank with all those dither fish he'll probably be more stable.
He relishes supermarket prawn-he loves raw tiger prawn (I get it from ASDA). He'll take 1-2 whole ones (they're quite big) daily or if hes moody every 2 days. Hes a very full-bodied fish and just great to watch feed-he smashes the tiger prawn whole. Depending on his mood he'll also take frozen lancefish/gammafish. On the side of predation not long after I first got him (March 2006 he measured around 7") he wiped a out a shoal of Arulius Barbs (6 in total) over 3-4 nights. I couldn't understand where these Barbs were going-I only knew it was the Tiger when I saw the size of its belly. It was incredible as these Barbs were around 4" at the minimum and fat. Tigers can eat far bigger fare than you'd think.
