So my son and I have been trying to figure out a few to create more tank space in our basement. I started thinking about years ago when I used to help my grandpa remodel houses. On one house we had to deepen the basement to pass city code so we could sell the house. It was kind of hard work but we got it done.

So...I think it would be awesome to use a jackhammer, break up some of the floor and dig down a few feet. You could then build a pond in the floor with boardwalks above it. I could be sitting here, watching tv and posting on mfk while fish, rays or whatever swam around and below me. The "footprint" would be huge (you could do like 10x14 and 2 feet deep) and you could even install plumbing to make water changes a snap.

That could be sooo sweet! How awesome would that be? How long until my wife divorces me? ;)

hummmmmm, i rather like that idea i always tell meagan my wife we should just flood the living room for the rays were still together so...though some times we bicker about a larger tank i would love to have something like "the tank that jack built." but i do really like this idea.

And I have older teenage kids with friends. I could have this thing dug out on a Saturday...easily. It would take me longer to design and install the plumbing than it would to actually create the space. I better keep this to myself for the moment because if I told the kids they would have a group of friends here next weekend to start this thing.

Send those kids over here before you tucker them out, I need to dig footings for my next tank.

i read a thread about a dude who sealed a room in his house and lifted flooring above !!! he wanted sharks and big groupers in it but i remember it ended in disaster while he was on his holls the end wall of the room poped out all over his yard

just make sure ya walls can take the pressure before ya start the hard work

Fook: nice idea.
U could develop that by having one elevation with a giant viewing panel; with steps leading down to a 1000mm wide walkway at the bottom of tank floor level. This way you can view all fish and water from side on and have your decking above with views from above
