I have 4 plecos in a 125gal.. three are babies and one is a common about 9 inches..the three babies are 2 clowns and one gold spot..i saw all four out and about today and they all looked good..but one clown baby seems to always be day or night on the intake pipe..just still.. do you think he may have fear issues since he is high up and never down with the rest..so i am concerned that he is either afraid or not eating.. and wasting away.. should i be concerned .. because i could take him out if that would be a suggestion...but do not want to if it is not nessasary since it is a big tank for him to roam and grow...and this just may be his normal behavior ..???

How big is your little clown... is it the one you found?
Are there hides etc for the little guy? Maybe put one that he'd be able to fit into so it's very cosey, tight enough for him to fit in, not necessarily the others. You could torch him to see what he's up to one night, see if it's moving... they are very different animals in the dark. It's a bit odd to be out in the open, but if it's got a full belly it's feeding.

There are alot of nooks and crannys but i know what you mean to have something tiny.. hard to tell about the belly because he is way in the back and up high..maybe just have one chance at him to get him out otherwise i probably won't see him for awhile.. i really do not know if this is the same clown because i bought another one about the same size a month or so ago.. i will do that tonight..take a look with flashlight..thanks DAVO

Clowns are pretty resilient. Mine survived along everything from L264, L200s, L128, L190, L090, L203, L010, L183, L077, L137, L010a, L066, L106, Adonis, and commons. He is well over 5 years old, and still going strong.

Sometime a plec is just a rebel, and decides that a filter hose is a better hiding place than your fancy cave.

Mine hang on filters and the tops of tall driftwood sometimes. One little common lived for months on the back glass beside a filter, he's not so little now and has given up doing that, most of the time.:)

If you are feeding big chunks of vege overnight it will be coming down and eating after lights out for sure.

Cheers

Ian
