The time has come for my wife and I to plan our next vacation. We aren't planning on going until next spring so we have time to decide on where to go. We just got our certification last year so we are still novices, but have high ambitions and want to get as many certifications as we can. So far all of our diving has been off of Isla Mujeres, Mexico but we are thinking about going to a different destination next time. So my question for all of you is where are some of your favorite dive spots and why? Any and all ideas are welcome and even if they won't work out for this trip they will go on the list for future destination spots.

We just came from the Philippines. Boracay specifically and the diving there was pretty good. Florida has some good spots to like in the Bahamas. I have never been there but have had some friends that did and raved about it. Are you looking for anything specific?
We don't have any specific types of dives in mind, we just want to get back to the open water. We don't have many requirements of the location but we must need our passports to get there, and we're not big fans of touristy spots so we would like someplace more quiet where we can experience the local culture. As for the cost we would like to stay under $5000, and that would be for the two of us plus her 13 year old son who isn't certified yet, but we would like him to be before we leave.
