A question for the experts?

Not an expert.. but mine took food just about right out of the bag and into the tank. haven't seen an issue in this. since most fish when shipped are fasted a day or more prior to shipping anyways they are often hungry. and will eat if they are settled/comfortable in their surroundings.
 
Have some live food in the tank. Can't hurt and they might start eating immediately (some gars handle the trip better than others)
 
not an expert but in my experience they easily adjust to new environment and would settle in fast, could feed it the next day.
