It's a longwinded question but here goes. My EBJD has always been active and responsive. He's in a 40 breeder with an aquaclear 70. I moved recently though, and ever since then he's been skittish and shy. He hides when he can and isn't near as agressive with food. About a month in I added a couple juvy JDs to perk him up hoping that being dominant would help him. He's the top dog in his tank, but still shy and skittish. The question then, should I move him to my 75 with a sponge and a canister on it. Would the added space and filtration perk him back up or has he just hit a slump? Yes, he'd have tankmates in the 75, and though I trust them , I'd rather not add him to the mix if I don't have to. Any thoughts?

Is it in the 40 alone?
Most cichlids watch other "dither" type fish to judge whether its safe to venture out or not. If you added a group of schooling type fish, giant danios, or rainbows etc, it may bring him out of it.
