Hi MFK'ers! Just bought 3 of these little beauties and they are acclimated and eating well. First off, I've been discovering that what the LFS calls a SA Spotted Gar is hoohaa and my babies are actually Boulengerella maculata. So having 3 I've also noticed that one is spotted and the other two are striped. Possibly with a chance of spots when they mature? Or is this a sign of male/female? Or, are they another species which I have not happened upon yet? I've noticed that info on them is somewhat rare and incomplete. Thanks and cheers!

Great pick ups, and to have them eating is awesome ( not easy ).

I believe the spoted one may be a different breed. I suggest you do a search in MFK's search machine.

Sounds like you have two different species theres a few species and striped and spotted are the most common still there is very little info avalible on them which has all ways bugged me as there not that rare of a fish
