I am about to do a DIY of this overfow, before i do the question is.

If you look at this, does it matter if the U bend at the bottom (outside) the tank is lower than the one inside the tank.

Also can the T section be horizontal so the water goes straight to the filter with the stand pipe coming directly off it. So in the pic the stand pipe would be coming vertical from the `to sump` ( T section turned 90 degrees...if you know what i mean.

Ah well, as i am here, i have a 140g tank and i am thinking of using, 1.5inch pipe (1350gph gravity/siphon flow) with 2 450gph pumps for the return.

Would a hopper type top on the feed from the tank help any?

Thanks wayne

"...if you know what i mean."

Not sure but...the 'T' join going to the sump (F) makes a water lock at any height above the lower uturns (E'D'E).

If its too low it will drain and not restart.

You get me :)

So both the (E,D,E) U bends need to be no lower than the tank base and need to be the same height, and the T joint (F) needs to be no lower than the U bends?

Cheers mate
