Someone scared my Madtom out of his hole so I actually got to take a couple pics of him. He's an ugly bastard up close.

Odd that he hides. Tadpole Madtom (noturus gyrinus), right? Mine came out every evening bold as a bullet looking for food. Didn't know they could be shy. Looks really great. He about two years old?

Oh he comes out pretty regularly but just to get food, so hes a complete blur. This was the middle of the day so he was actually out and sitting still.
You're spot on about the age.
 
Oh, I see. The rare moment when they stop moving. Precious moments they are, indeed. Mine only lived about three years. I hope yours goes longer. Enjoy the brown lightning.
