One singer that I think you older people will like is "The weeknd" He performed tonight at the super bowl. Very inspirational life story, was homeless five years ago. But now is married to Bella Hadid and has a couple of platinum albums!
I do quite like The weeknd, that blinded by the light song is played on the radio a lot here lately but I liked some of the older songs too. He was even in that movie Uncut Gems playing himself.
I wasnt aware of his backstory, good to see someone beat the odds and make a success of their life. I only saw the highlights of his superbowl performance on the news last night, I didnt think it sounded very good either to be honest. Live recordings can sound dodgy though, especially in a big open space like a sportsground.
If you want to see a bad live sport live performance, google "Meatloaf AFL Grand final" or "angry anderson AFL grand final" ad see the quality music we get at our football finals down here.

This conversation is pretty much dead, but as someone who's younger, but not young enough to be considered "the current generation", I figured I'd offer my opinion. While I don't at all agree with the idea that everything newer or with trap instrumentals is automatically crap, in fact, I enjoy plenty of projects by artists who would fit under that criteria, I just personally can't get into a decent portion of newer stuff either. These are some of my personal favorite (mainstream) rap/hip-hop projects to come out in the past five years (2017-present) by relatively newer artists (2000s/2010s and beyond). I'd recommend listening to all of these, it could open your eyes to new stuff.

I think I am amongst the younger population of MFK, so I thought I might be able to contribute to this thread.

I am constantly told by my friends that I listen to old music, and music by dead people, (which is true). I'm not a big fan of all this new fancy-pants technological music, with very few real instruments and lots of autotune.

Some of my favourite songs include

"Have you ever seen the rain?" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
"Layla" By Derek and the Dominos
"Down in a hole" by Alice in Chains.
"Rooster" By Alice in Chains
"Creep" by Stone Temple Pilots
"One" by Chris Cornell. (This one is an incredible cover of the U2 and Metallica songs 'One')
"Fade to Black" by Metallica.

I would recommend giving all of these a listen sometime of another.
