Right now I have a 7'' female robertsoni in a 55g and a 6-7'' male ellioti in a 25g. I would like to try and add the t. ellioti in the 55g with some swordtails.
Do you think this could work? If so what is the best way to introduce these two w/ out problems?

If the robertsoni has been in the tank by it self for a while, I would pull her out, do a major redecoration, add the fish back and do a big water change. Hopefully that would give them time to get used to eachother without established terratories.

thanks, should I keep them in separate for awhile after i change things up in the tank? I'm hoping it will work. The 25g just seems way to small for the ellioti and I want to move a HRP into that tank.

Elliotti can be pretty pushy, no experience with robertsoni, but rearranging the tank decor sounds like a good plan. Add the dither fish in first for a few days.

The robertsoni not that aggressive, but had problems with a very aggressive male firemouth in the same 55g. They did ok together for years, then the had to separate them. I have tried to add swordtails in the 25g w/ the elllioti and he killed a few of them. I am more worried about his aggression, and don't know what to expect.

Ok I added ditched the 55g idea and added the 2 in a 72g bowfront with some swordtails. So far the robertsoni is chasing the ellioti, but no fighting. The ellioti is spending spending a good deal time in the corners of the tank, and I added a lot of hiding spots.

Should I move the ellioti?

I also have a full grown male firemouth. If I add him would that make things worse or would it break the aggression up?
